Hi. Welcome to the lab, the place where we learn about diabetes. If you’re anything like me, you like spending your money on the fun stuff! Allowance just doesn’t go as far as it used to these days… So it may seem like you can’t afford to eat healthy. But you can! You just gotta follow a few simple tips. I don’t know if you noticed, but local veggies seem to grow best when it isn’t winter, it’s probably cheaper than other veggies that are not in season! What is this? And whether it’s seasonal or not, it’s sometimes best to buy frozen fruits and veggies, so portion out what you need each meal, so nothing goes to waste. Scientific fact, frozen vegetables last months longer than fresh ones, and are available year-round. Cold hard veggies saves you some cold hard cash! Here are some other tips to help save money. You can freeze what you don’t need right away, or switch up recipes to use ingredients such as beans and less expensive cuts of meat. And of course, you can always shop the sales. I wish my allowance came with a 2 for 1 sale… If I can do it, you can do it. So do it!
