When I was choosing a career path I thought
about what I’m good at and what I’m passionate about. I’ve always been interested in health
and wellbeing, so I knew that I wanted to work in public health. What led me to choose nutrition is that I
found a lot of nutrition information out there to be overwhelming and confusing at times.
I wanted to know how to understand it and how to help others to do the same. I loved studying at Curtin. I found the teaching
staff to be incredibly supportive. They were always available to answer my questions and
to point me in the right direction when I was seeking more information about nutrition
related resources. I have found that Curtin has a strong focus
on helping you to be career-ready by the time that you graduate. My goal has always been to become a dietitian,
which meant studying a nutrition degree followed
by a Master of Dietetics. The career opportunities in nutrition and
dietetics are extensive, from helping people in a hospital setting to being involved in
health promotion and policy. I not only want to help individuals to improve their quality
of life, but to make a positive difference in the way that good nutrition and health
is promoted to and understood by the general population.
